Production Planning Senior Manager (Project Management)



What you will do 

The Sr. Production Planning Manager functions as the chief architect, teacher, conductor and, when required, the enforcer of the production planning process. This is a capability development, management and continuous improvement role.

The Sr. Production Planning Manager role maintains training, processes and tools to ensure capacity availability to fulfill demand, by translating midterm and long-term demand forecasts into granular short-term capacity schedules that also align with near-term requirements. The role leads a production planning team that balances available and required capacity to optimize service, working capital and capacity costs while monitoring any potential issues which may impact capacity schedules.

The Sr. Production Planning Manager places a greater emphasis on standardizing internal collaboration activities across functions and within the planning org while simultaneously documenting and enhancing customizations that address the intricacies of the production and supply chain. 

How you will do it

  • Manage the translation of the network and/or rough-cut capacity plan into a master production schedule for the manufacturing assets within its scope.  Create boundaries for identifying possible future capacity constraints and bottlenecks in the short to mid-term and partner with the long-range planning team to identify consistent production adherence issues that might require an update to the capacity assumptions.
  • Partner with material planning teams to develop tools and processes to ensure proper coverage and accurate schedules. Work together to translate new product introduction plans and/or end of life requirements into production plans.
  • Develops tools and processes and boundaries for aligning changes to the production schedule when demand or supply deviates from plan, and to anticipate potential issues by comparing demand with supply in the short term and midterm.
  • Utilize, maintain and improve current capacity planning systems to create the best capacity schedules using established processes. Leverage technology and analytics to run what-if-analysis to build a realistic, optimal and feasible production schedule
  • Develop and maintain and optimize capacity planning assumptions and performance measures in conjunction with purchasing, planning, manufacturing operations, logistics/warehousing and commercial teams, including overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), yield, line capacity, scrap rates, and holiday planning.
  • Measure, analyze and report key process metrics, and monitor adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Supporting the annual and strategic planning and direction setting for the planning teams and supply chain function.
  • Contributing to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives.

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, Engineering, Supply Chain or other related technical degree.
  • 10 years of supply chain management, demand/ supply planning, and customer service experience. Understanding of end-to-end planning and supply chain management.

Preferred

  • An advanced degree or relevant certifications in supply chain (such as APICS CPIM, CSCP) is preferred.
  • Experience in using and improving systems. Robust process establishment and improvement experience
  • Familiarity with company systems (e.g., SAP, QAD) and supply chain planning tools.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with cross-functional teams (internally and externally).
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve such KPIs as plan accuracy improvement, process adherence, stock turns, return on investment and project completion
  • Detail oriented and able to communicate complex problems and solutions, driven to collaborate and very comfortable working with numbers
