Shipping Supervisor (Administrative)



The Shipping Supervisor is accountable for leading and managing the effective day-to-day activities of the assigned shipping crews at the plant while ensuring daily excellence so that results are achieved in safety, quality, downtime, cost and efficiency. This person will be responsible for ensuring trailers are loaded correctly in a timely manner. Making sure all items, which includes cabinets, accessories, and tops are properly scanned before loading onto the trailer, and to make sure that proper cubing of the trailer takes place by the shipping staff. Limiting all damages and making sure that all loads are loaded complete and well blocked for securing during transit.

Daily Responsibilities

Responsible for pre-staging loading dock for assigned trailer, and setting up scanners for loading of all items assigned to his/her assigned loads.
Responsible for maintaining high standards and able to comply with company standards.
Scan, push, load cabinets, and accessories on a conveyor line to be loaded into trailers.
Scan label and load properly in the trailer.
Assist other loaders in pushing cabinets down the conveyor, scanning them as loaded, as they are loaded into the trailer.
Responsible for completing all additional duties/task given by Shipping Supervisor/ and or Team Lead.

Education and Experience

5+ years of experience within a Shipping & Receiving role
4+ years of experience in a supervisor/manager role
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required.
Experience in cabinet or manufacturing highly preferred, but not required.
Advanced team problem-solving skills and strong oral communication skills needed.
Understanding of production process specific variances.
Ability to plan production schedules to maximize efficiency and clear communication with each shift.
Must have a thorough understanding or continuous improvement practices to include root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.
Experience supervising a group size from 20 to 30 employees.
Must be able to manage, communicate and develop subordinate employees.
Must be able to work in a team environment with other production supervisors.
Proficiency of various software programs including MS Word, MS Excel and IE Explorer.
Must be able to perform basic math skills and the ability to read a measuring tape and caliper in metric dimensions.
Must have a strong sense of urgency in completing assigned daily duties and hourly goals.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desirable.
Proven safety leadership.


Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions

Enclosed but not air-conditioned or heated factory environment. Will include long hours (10 to 12 hours a day) of standing, some heavy lifting, and areas where eye protection, hearing protection and respirators are required.

Must be able to physically perform daily tasks, including lifting of packages weighing more than 80 lbs. or more.
