Community Relations Intern - Chippewa Valley (Creative Design)



Hey Students! Are you passionate about community involvement and love planning events? Become a Community Relations Intern at Royal Credit Union! In this role, you'll help organize exciting events, create engaging content, and represent Royal in the communities we serve. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience while making a real impact!

All applicants must be located in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Valley Area & include a resume, cover letter, transcript and their anticipated graduation date when applying. If selected for the internship, you must be able to commit to the full 13 months and be enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship. Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI, throughout the school year and during breaks.

What You'll Do:

The Community Relations Intern will assist the Program Director of Community Relations and other Community Relations team members with the planning, coordination, and execution of a wide variety of events and other Community Engagement activities. They will help build brand awareness and positively represent Royal in the communities we serve. The Community Relations Intern will assist in the creation of media pitches, press releases, blogs, and social media content.

Our Commitment To You:

  • Compensation: $17.41 - 19.49 per hour (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

What's Needed For This Position:

  • Enrolled at a University or Technical College throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or similar field.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Valid driver's license and maintain it.
  • Must have an insured vehicle or access to one.
  • Must have and maintain reliable transportation.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent time management.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment and handling frequent interruptions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools like Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness to travel locally and transport materials to events.

What We'd Love To See:

  • Event planning and coordination experience.
  • Social media, blog and/or press release writing experience.

Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Represent Royal Credit Union professionally at community events, including expos, parades, and open houses.
  • Assist with planning and executing events and programs, providing feedback on their alignment with Royal's mission.
  • Create and distribute media content such as press releases, blogs, and social media posts to highlight Royal's community impact.
  • Support internal programs like the Volunteer and Kid's Club, and collaborate with Marketing on promotional materials.
  • Help with administrative tasks, suggest process improvements, and support other teams like Financial Education and Grants.

Work Schedule:

  • Working approximately 15-20 hours/week during the school year and 35-40 hours/week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center throughout the school year and during breaks.
  • This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from April 2026 - May 2027.
  • Must be able to commit to the 13 month internship.

Training:

  • Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
  • Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal's culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
