Job Overview:
The Internal Quality Auditor is responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting internal audits that ensure compliance with AS9100D, IATF 16949, and ISO14001 quality management systems in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The auditor will support continuous improvement, maintain audit readiness, and interface with regulatory, customer, and third-party auditors. Reports to the Director of Quality.
Duties/Responsibilities
Management Responsible IFT Rep, Plan, schedule, and execute internal quality audits across all departments and value streams
Verify compliance with AS9100D, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001. Perform clause-by-clause audits and process audits using risk-based thinking and objective evidence.
Prepare and issue detailed audit reports, identify nonconformities, and follow up on corrective actions.
Track and verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Support second-party and third-party audits including customer and registrar audits.
Work with cross-functional teams to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
Train personnel on QMS requirements, audit readiness, and corrective action processes.
Assist in maintaining the internal audit program, quality procedures, and audit KPIs.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a technical or quality-related field (preferred).
Certified Internal Auditor in AS9100D (required); IATF 16949 (preferred). 3-5 years of experience in an aerospace, NDT, or chemical processing environment.
Strong knowledge of QMS, internal auditing, Corrective Action, Root Cause Investigation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with Nadcap compliance is desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit tracking systems.
Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
Travel
Local and overnight travel are required periodically between South Bend, IN and Indianapolis, IN.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
