Mechanic (Engineering)



Evidence of a "safety first" attitude
Must have computer skills for the ability to repair sub-components of all types of buses.
Must have ability to understand and follow schematics.
Intermediate level computer skills (including Microsoft applications)
Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity
Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner)

Sound judgement; Good problem-solving and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non-technical parties)
Excellent communication skills
Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment. • One (1) year progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred
ASE Transit Certificate acquisition plan required
Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirable
High school diploma or GED and valid North Carolina driver's license with CDL endorsement is required
Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software required
Must have the ability to learn the design, maintenance, and adjustments of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires and transmissions
Hands on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

High school diploma or GED?
Minimum of one to two years of vocational/technical schooling or equivalent work experience.?
Experience: Available classifications (shown below) based upon collective bargaining agreements.?
Level C: Hiring Level.?
Level B: Must hold and maintain three ASE Truck or Transit Bus along with 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification and three years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty diesel buses or truck.?
Level A: Must hold and maintain four ASE Truck or Transit Bus certifications, one of which must be test T6 or H6 electrical, along with 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification and four years of verifiable experience in heavy duty diesel bus or truck.?
Master: Must hold and maintain ASE Certified Master Truck or Transit certification, 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification, and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in arc, mig and gas welding along with five years of verifiable experience in heavy duty diesel bus.?
Computer Skills Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new programs as required.?
Certificates & Licenses All positions require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B with endorsements. See experience and qualifications for necessary licenses and certifications.?
Other Requirements Must provide own hand tools as necessary to perform the assigned work.
Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug screening.?
No criminal convictions or DWI, DUI, assault, or possession of controlled substances within the last 5 years. Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment performance evaluation. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, drug and alcohol screen and background investigation and pre-employment assessments and tests.?
