Research Coordinator I/II/III - Orthopedic Research - Biomotion Lab (Finance)

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Research Coordinator I/II/III to join our Biomotion Lab. The Biomotion Lab conducts groundbreaking research in the field of biomechanics and human motion analysis, and as a Research Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of research projects and activities within the lab.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Project Management:

• Coordinate and manage research projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, objectives, and budget constraints.

• Work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team to align project goals with the lab's overall research objectives.

• Oversee the recruitment and engagement for multiple ongoing projects, including screening, contacting, and tracking status throughout the study duration.

• Ensure proper organization, and documentation of 10+ ongoing studies while ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory and ethical guidelines.

• Stay informed and engaged in all current and upcoming projects, adapting workflows and resources to meet the specific needs of each study across diverse medical and scientific specialties.

Team Support:

• Coordinate and prepare data collection sessions, ensuring a smooth and efficient process and high-quality documentation.

• Work closely with research assistants, engineers, post-doctoral fellows, medical students, and healthcare professionals involved in research projects.

• Facilitate team communication, coordination, and collaboration to maximize productivity and research outcomes.

Resource Management:

• Manage and maintain lab equipment, inventory, and supplies.

Administrative Tasks:

• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, planning lab events, coordinating subject data collection visits, documenting meeting minutes, and general organization of documents.

Ethical and Safety Compliance:

• Ensure that research activities are conducted in compliance with ethical standards and safety protocols.

• Promote a culture of safety within the lab and enforce safety procedures.

• Submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) study proposals, amendments, change requests, and other related IRB forms for all studies in the Biomotion Lab based on study proposals written by the lab's research team.

Research Reporting:

• Collaborate with the research team to prepare research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for conferences and publications for various audiences

• Assist in data analysis and interpretation as needed.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in subject recruitment, and/or patient-facing roles (e.g., medical scribe, medical assistant, registered nurse, customer service positions) is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with research and clinical software such as Epic, REDCap, IRIS/IRB will be preferred.

• Prior Experience working in a research environment is preferred

• The ideal candidate is a quick learner who is highly organized, able to multitask effectively, and demonstrates a proactive, action-oriented mindset.

Position Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists with the day-to-day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel, facilities, supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies; works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.
  • Assists with the preparation of budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff, and authorizes expenditures for multiple projects. Attends research-planning meetings to assist in the preparation of budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.
  • Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staff has received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data may include patient data and departmental programmatic data.
  • Prepares draft reports and communications for the departmental program/division leadership.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Provides work administrative direction and guidance to administrative staff personnel within department.
  • May review contracts and develop training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Certification/Skills:

    Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    Working knowledge of MS Office.

    Minimum Education:

    Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

    Physical Requirements:

    Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
    This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

    This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

    Residency Requirement:
