Proposal Writer - Government Services (Creative Design)

HORNE is pleased to announce a new opening for a Proposal Writer position. This position can be performed remotely and candidates from across the United States are welcome to apply.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Government Services group in HORNE with responding to proposals and aiding in ongoing business development efforts. This individual will need to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, performing tasks quickly and with a high level of attention to detail.
The ideal candidate for this position would have the following minimum qualifications:
B.S. or B.A. in Business Administration, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or a related field of study
2 - 5 + years of relevant writing experience on proposals and bids.
Expert level proficiency preferred in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to use editing tools in PDF and other document formats.
Ability to perform market research, searching for information and data internally and externally to support information needed for white papers, pursuits, social media posts, or other writing-oriented needs as assigned.
Ability to “tell the story” and persuasively write technical content in a manner that is easily understood and clearly showcases our strengths and benefits.
Ability to translate technical concepts into content that is accessible to audiences with mixed levels of expertise.
Ability to work well in a group environment to manage document edits, organize information and improve writing work products.
Ability to help the business development team by offering ideas on how to present information and showcase it in a compelling and persuasive way in the proposal documents, presentations, and other printed materials.
Ability to perform technical editing for grammar and readability of documents prior to publishing.
Ability to pay attention to details – focusing on accuracy.

Job responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the list below. Other duties and tasks could be assigned by management.
Research market opportunities, client requirements, and other information for pre-positioning or document needs. The right candidate will have the ability to research and understand the nuances within the market that impact the document writing effort.
Organize and manage critical data and champion a file protocol process for everyone in Government Services to easily identify the appropriate materials. Follow prescribed version control methods ensuring all edits are compiled and addressed appropriately in brochures, presentations, proposals or other client engagement materials.
Responding to proposal documents issued by government clients by following the standard processes of proposals. Working collaboratively with the business development team and following processes to ensure all content is well written and adequately reviewed prior to submission. Documents should be written to follow client guidance/directions and should be compliant with all proposal requirements.
Coordinating with others in a collaborative fashion to understand and address writing and editing needs for various documents.
The primary job responsibilities are noted above, but other duties may be assigned by management as required. This position requires adherence to deadlines which on occasion will require work to be completed outside of normal business hours. The ideal candidate will need to be willing to work flexible hours to ensure deadlines are met for the work assignments.
