Project Civil Engineer (Finance)

Arcadis is seeking a talented and experienced Civil or Environmental Project Engineer to support a growing number of projects in our Texas offices. This is a mid to senior level opportunity for a dynamic individual looking to join a growing Environmental Business Line within the oil, gas, industrial, and chemical sectors. The successful candidate will work directly with Arcadis client accounts, clients, and Arcadis staff in a collaborative team approach to develop and direct technical deliverables to support project objectives.

Role description:

Plans, designs, and oversees civil engineering projects, such as industrial solid waste landfills, wastewater collection and treatment impoundments, environmental restoration projects, channels, levees, drainage systems, stormwater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, roads, and other civil/environmental aspects of infrastructure. Work will entail a mixture of engineering design, permitting, proposal and report writing, and construction-phase field engineering.

Role accountabilities:

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (Examples include software such as AutoCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models, and Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of earthwork, grading and slope design
  • Basic understanding of surveying and digital base maps produced by surveyors
  • Position requires interfacing directly with clients and managing all aspects of project delivery utilizing Arcadis resources

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work.
  • Prepare designs, analyses, specifications, and construction documents for civil grading and drainage design, environmental restoration, levees, spillways, and other heavy civil and hydraulic structures.
  • Inspect construction site to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction standards
  • Address Request for Information (RFI) from contractors related to design and construction work
  • Oversee construction and maintenance activities at project site in support of construction management tasks and/or design-build projects
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects
  • Be familiar with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects in their respective field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Will require visits to project sites. Estimated Travel up to 25%.
  • May require work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Will be required to have a valid driver license.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer, and ability to obtain license in Texas.
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Ability to work independently and to mentor junior staff
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models, and geotechnical engineering analysis programs/software.
  • Basic knowledge of earthwork, grading, and slope design
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Experience in a consulting engineering firm
  • 10 years' experience preferred

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $88,580 - $132,870.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
