DMS Clinical Coordinator (Healthcare)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Clinical Coordinator Provides direct clinical education and technical supervision of the Colleges Diagnostic Sonography Medical program, acting as liaison between the clinical affiliates and the Colleges program and other such other duties as assigned.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Clinical Coordinator reports to the Program Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Secure new clinical sites with clinical affiliate agreements.
  • Facilitate appropriate direct and indirect supervision of the students in the clinical setting.
  • Facilitate appropriate and adequate clinical instruction and competency evaluation for students in the clinical setting.
  • Develop and monitor clinical assignments and schedules for students.
  • Visit clinical sites to review and evaluate students clinical performance and progress.
  • Coordinate with clinical site instructors to ensure clinical education is effective.
  • Coordinate the clinical education for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of students within the program. Develop and monitor clinical objective and evaluations.
  • Maintain clinical education documentation of assignments and rotations, attendance and student evaluations.
  • May prepare lesson plans and instruct students in ultrasound methods and techniques.
  • Send out graduate employer surveys for program assessment and future development at completion of program.
  • Exhibit a positive professional attitude toward clinical affiliates, students and the teaching process by using positive interpersonal communication skills.
  • Work with Program Director in all program aspects as deemed necessary by the Program Director.
  • Provide student guidance and academic counseling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Demonstrated of organizing and overseeing the daily activities of healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics and other patient care facilities. They manage staff, communicate with different departments and ensure adequate patient care amongst other duties.

• Demonstrated of coordinating clinical education with didactic education, as assigned by the Program Director, implementing and assisting in clinical rotations, allowing students to achieve course objectives.

• Knowledge of maintaining student clinical records; responsibilities of which may be designated to additional school faculty, by the Program Director

• Demonstrated skills regularly with program faculty to maintain current documentation of students' clinical progress and communicate areas of strengths and weaknesses

• Demonstrated appropriately assigning direct and indirect supervision levels, in the clinical setting.

• Ability to provide appropriate and adequate clinical instruction for students.

• Demonstrated and provided clinical competency and test evaluations, for each student assigned to the clinical site, in conjunction with designated preceptors and clinical instructors.

• Knowledge of clinical education effectiveness, through a schedule of regular, clinical visits and correspondence with the sites; school faculty may assist.

• Demonstrated didactic responsibilities, submitting course outlines, lesson plans, and timetables consistent with curriculum goals for each course assigned by the Program Director.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy.

• Must be able to participate in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain professional competency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have a minimum of three years' experience working in the field as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

• Minimum of one-year full-time experience as a clinical instructor required.

• Must possess a current ARDMS Sonography Certification.
