Training & Staff Development Manager (Personal Services)



GENERAL FUNCTION: The Training and Staff Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that all Casa de Amparo staff members receive effective, appropriate, and efficient training according to their position in the organization. This position will plan, develop, and implement overall trainings and development plans for Casa de Amparo. This role is designed to foster employee growth in the organization, increasing skills, and aligns training plans and programs with organizational needs and goals within the program budget.

MAJOR TASKS

Administrative:

  1. Understand and organize training requirements for contracts within the organization.
  2. Design, develop, and implement training programs to meet organizational needs.
  3. Assess for employee knowledge, competency and skill opportunities within the organization.
  4. Utilize program partnerships to assist in implementation of training needs.
  5. Evaluate effectiveness of training programs implemented to adjust accordingly.
  6. Timely completion of written supervision notes, written warnings, performance evaluations, and competency assessments of supervisees, if applicable.
  7. Attend regular individual supervision meetings with supervisor. Report important incidents/concerns to supervisor immediately.
  8. Assure debriefing process is conducted for Special Incident Reports (SIR), as appropriate.
  9. Assist in ensuring compliance with IEU, CCL, The Joint Commission standards, and AFDC regulations.
  10. Assist in providing information to CCL, HHSA, Human Trafficking Task Force, and law enforcement agencies.
  11. Ensure staff appropriately carry out the Emergency Intervention Plan (EIP) and AWOL/Runaway Plan.
  12. Participate in appropriate management and team meetings.
  13. Forward employee injury forms to Human Resources. 

    Program:

  14. Assure safety of residents and their children in each program through training assessment and implementation.

  15. Ensure that care is provided by staff that is knowledgeable and respectful of differing cultures and the norms that exist within various cultures.
  16. Collaborate with Treatment Teams to review participant's needs on an on-going basis to assure trainings are aligned with safe, effective care provided in collaboration with identified goals.
  17. Train staff on, and model, reasonable and prudent parent standards as needed.
  18. Provide ongoing supervision, support, and training to direct care and support staff, as applicable.
  19. Train supervisors on proper documentation techniques, conversation management, and policy interpretation related to performance or behavioral issues.
  20. Participate in staff meetings with Director and other Program Managers through the organization.
  21. Provide emergency assistance to staff and assist in crisis intervention, as necessary.
  22. Complete walk-throughs of Residential Services living spaces and provide direction to staff to assure compliance with CCL regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.
  • Two years full-time experience, or its equivalent, providing direct supervision and care of children/youth in a residential setting, with nine months including the supervision of staff required. Bachelor's Degree in a Behavioral Science preferred. Experience working with medically fragile clients preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children and young adults ages 0-25 years throughout the developmental stages.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, time-management, organizational, written/verbal communication skills, and intermediate computer literacy. English proficient/Bilingual Spanish preferred.  Must have ambulatory, auditory and visual skills to observe residents and staff. 
  • Must have the physical ability to participate in activities and perform related physical skills, including, but not limited to, crouching, lifting 50 pounds, crawling on hands and knees, and walking up and down stairs. 
  • Ability to comply with all employment requirements including, but not limited to CPR/Pediatric 1st Aid, physical, TB and drug screen clearance, clear DMV record and approval from insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Must provide proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. Residential Services and/or Transitional Housing Service experience is preferred.
