Pediatrician (Healthcare)



Purpose:

  • The Pediatrician provides primary pediatric care under established protocols and the approved Clinical Policies of WWFHC. The Pediatrician specializes in the treatment of children from birth to 21 years old.  The pediatrician treats these patients' illnesses and ensures that they have a clean bill of health within certain requirements. The Pediatrician must consult with the patient and or parent/guardian to understand his/her illness. The pediatrician and the parents develop a relationship that allows for the appropriate assessment and diagnosis of the illness.  The Pediatrician works with other providers and staff to provide quality and effective service and solutions to pediatric medical problems.   Working effectively with the OBGYN provider(s) is key to developing future patient relationships and providing a continuum of service for our patients.

PART I: ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

  1. Focuses on the physical, emotional, and social health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to 21 years.
  2. Monitors if patient is developmentally achieving milestones and skillfully assesses their patient
  3. Focuses on prevention, detection, and management of physical, behavioral, developmental, and social problems that affect children.
  4. Sees any WWFHC patient, from birth to 21 years of age, regardless of sex, race, condition or association with another WWFHC provider of care.
  5. Provides specialized pediatric services to patients of WWFHC's.
  6. Performs systematic health histories and physical assessments of patients.
  7. Reports quality of care issues promptly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Medical Officer
  8. Performs episodic care, treatment, and follow-up.
  9. Prescribes drug and medicine treatment.
  10. Provides patient education and nutritional instruction.
  11. Supervise non-physician providers as requested.
  12. Keeps a systematic record using an approved format of patient care.   Timely and accurately completing patient records, charts and reports as appropriate in electronic charts or on paper.
  13. Participates in established call group.
  14. Assumes responsibility of patients at appropriate hospital when requested by Emergency Department
  15. Responsible for ambulatory quality, customer satisfaction and managed care requirements.

Managerial

  1. Provides input to the Chief Operations Officer or Practice Manager, as appropriate, in the performance review process of the Medicine's non-medical staff.
  2. Attends provider meeting at Western Wayne Family Health Centers
     

Education/Training

  1. Participates in the education/training of personnel.
  2. Participates as a member of Western Wayne Family Health Centers in community education programs or community health promotions.
  3. Attends and completes required/necessary CME training
     

Quality Assessment/Utilization Review

  1. Participates in all relevant QA/UR activities as required
  2. Participates in Peer Review and in-service training.
  3. Cooperates with Risk Management and participates in Risk Management activities.
     

Recruitment

  1. Meet and evaluate potential physician and extender candidates for the Practice.
  2. Assist in orientation of new practitioners to the Practice.
  3. Introduce new physicians to referral physicians.
     

PART II: EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  1. Doctor of Medicine Degree
  2. Board Eligible/Certified in pediatric care as a   specialty from an accredited school of medicine.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

  1. Must be currently holding, or eligible for, admitting privileges and member in good standing at community and/or tertiary hospitals.
  2. Must possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine within the State of Michigan.

WWFHC follows all federal and state mandates for employee health and safety. At this time, all employees are required to have both the primary series of COVID19 vaccines as well as any booster shots the person is eligible to receive.  Exemptions may be made to this policy and are determined on a case-by-case basis if there are medical contraindications for vaccine or recognized religious beliefs prohibiting vaccinations. If received other vaccines, they may not qualify for exemptions.  Exemptions must be requested and approved before first day of work.  New employees who have not yet had the vaccine must be full vaccinated, or schedule to be vaccinated as soon as possible based on CDC guidelines. Weekly testing will be required if exemption is approved.
