Resource Planning Senior Advisor, Long Range Forecasting - Evernorth - Remote (Finance)



POSITION SUMMARY

The Resource Planning Senior Advisor not only serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, playing a pivotal role in enabling the Service organization to achieve its operational and strategic objectives, but goes beyond the functional alignment requiring deep cross-departmental influence and strategic foresight. The Senior Advisor is responsible for Cigna's Service area leading capacity planning and forecasting efforts, driving workforce optimization initiatives, and providing actionable insights that inform long-term strategy. The ideal candidate brings seasoned judgment, strong analytical capabilities, and a proven ability to influence across the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of workforce dynamics, business operations, and performance metrics to support workforce optimization initiatives across the enterprise.

Candidates who reside within 50 miles of the following locations will require the flexibility to perform onsite 3 days per week: Bloomfield, CT, Chattanooga, TN, Denver, CO, St Louis, MO, and Scottsdale, AZ.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Capacity Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead the design, development, and ongoing refinement of capacity planning models across diverse back-office functions and skill groups.
  • Execute monthly production cycles, including analysis of historical trends, actual performance, and forecast generation to support optimal staffing and financial outcomes.
  • Evaluate staff tenure, ramp-up periods, and training impacts to inform resource allocation and workforce planning strategies.

Strategic Analysis & Recommendations

  • Assess workforce surpluses and deficits, providing strategic recommendations to enhance organizational efficiency and financial performance.
  • Analyze key operational metrics, including receipts, inventory levels, membership trends, attainment rates, productivity, barrier time, attrition, and volume distribution (onshore vs. offshore).
  • Communicate financial and full-time equivalent (FTE) impacts in alignment with budgetary objectives and cost center targets.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with functional leaders and matrixed stakeholders to communicate monthly performance results, forecast implications, and required adjustments.
  • Participate in hiring plan evaluations, inventory reviews, and short-term planning sessions, offering strategic insights and constructively challenging assumptions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to advance workforce planning initiatives and drive operational improvements.

Process Improvement & Change Leadership

  • Contribute to the reengineering capacity planning processes to improve model accuracy and support more informed business decisions.
  • Champion change management efforts and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels to adopt innovative, risk-balanced workforce strategies.

Team Development & Communication

  • Engage actively in recurring team meetings and individual sessions to share analytical findings and support team development initiatives.
  • Identify and advise on new hire requirements, skill conversion opportunities, and upskilling needs to support evolving business demands.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in workforce planning or related.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior leaders and driving enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, VBA/macros).
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools to build interactive and impactful dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Look-er).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and translate insights into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication skills including: written, verbal and listening skills with a proven ability to facilitate clear, constructive dialogue and influence decision-making across matrixed environments.
  • Strong relationship-building and leadership skills to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and guide workforce planning discussions.
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong sense of urgency and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize data into cohesive narratives that support strategic decision-making and organizational alignment.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 88,200 - 147,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
