Position: Assistant Store Manager An Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager and all store initiatives. The person in this role will oversee all operational functions of the store in the absence of the store manager. This includes supervising our store staff, meeting customer needs, planning and coordinating sales, facilitating merchandising, and tracking the store budget. Assistant managers should be energetic and enthusiastic, working effectively and efficiently under pressure, and bringing their significant experience to bear in retail business and leadership. ResponsibilitiesOur Assistant Store Manager will assist the store manager to ensure efficient operations throughout the store. LEADERSHIPCoaching, counseling, mentoring, providing positive reinforcement, and managing employee performance to ensure employee accountability and success. Maintaining store staff by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.Completing operational needs by scheduling employee assignments, delegating tasks, and following up on results.Conducting daily store tours to identify, prioritize, and resolve store opportunities and ensure all company directed initiatives are being executed. Building loyal relationships with current and future customers by representing Big R at local community events and initiatives. Maintaining an open-door policy with all employees, maximizing their growth opportunities through daily and weekly meetings. Being the watchdog of the store budget; exercising financial control and sensibility. SALESManaging current and future customer opportunities and staffing requirements by analyzing current and future sales trends and forecasts. Developing and executing merchandising initiatives related to seasonal and community events while partnering with corporate merchandising teams to manage proper inventory levels.Maintaining accurate and timely freight flow from receipt to the sales floor, ensuring maximum merchandise availability. Identifying and reacting to local changes in the retail market. Leading all visual directives, ensuring floor sets are properly planned, scheduled, and executed seamlessly within an allotted timeframe. TRAININGEnforcing the practice of adequate measures for employee and customer safety and to protect company assets. Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, including the personal ability to sell firearms. What You Bring to the Job EXPERIENCEAt least 2 years of supervisory experience. Previous work in farm/ranch retail channel desired. EDUCATIONBachelors degree preferred, but may be substituted with years of experience in the industry. RequirementsThis position will require your flexibility to meet the needs of our business, including working evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must be able to do some lifting and moving of heavier inventoryup to 25 poundsin the store with or without accommodation. Our Store Managers are often on their feet, you will need to move around the store, with or without accommodation, to accomplish tasks, respond to customer or employee requests, and oversee full store operations. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs and requests.
