IT Business Intelligence Developer (Athol) (Security)



The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer position is a full-time position in the Information Technology (IT) Department. The BI Developer, under general supervision, will be responsible for identifying, planning and managing resources required to deliver consistent and precise data analytics to the enterprise. This position must have expertise in both back-end data processing technologies as well as building cutting edge data visualizations to provide self-service actionable analytics products. This position will play a key role in design and development of data intelligence. Travel between sites and after-hours services will be required. This position will report to the BI Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide a valuable role in the development of business reporting systems for the company
  • Develop the structural footprint of data repositories
  • Translate business requirements into specifications for data collection and reporting
  • Work with the analytics team to ensure that data sets feeding the analytics platforms are tuned for optimal performance.
  • Skilled in implementing solutions for large user groups that support the enterprise.
  • Design and model data flows and procedures ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Create data repository and manage users and groups for access to information
  • Analyze enterprise data needs and confer with users to evaluate requirements
  • Develop custom SQL queries and perform testing of data analysis
  • Design, maintain and troubleshoot data interfaces with other SaaS providers
  • Troubleshoot and resolved issues with the processes used and the content produced.
  • Maintain governmental compliance and participate in audits as needed
  • Uphold and protect the data with the appropriate security standards and protocols.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support through troubleshooting, report modifications and optimization.
  • Create and deliver information at appropriate levels for the audience
  • Ensure the continuing effectiveness of current systems through appropriate testing.
  • Provide input into the technical architecture and the data warehouse technology stack.
  • Create functional and technical design documents and maintain documentation for all reports
  • Help develop training for end users on enterprise information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Skilled in organizing and expressing ideas effectively in oral and written communication
  • Understand security procedures, protocols, and audits necessary to protect information
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Develop data validation strategies and training for end users
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and networks
  • Experience in a highly analytical environment with advanced reporting and KPIs
  • Follow through on short and long term projects
  • Create documentation, protocols and policies for data collection, reporting and sharing of information
  • Highly organized, analytical and action oriented
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(Persons applying for a position should have a combination of the following experience and training.)

  • Seven years of information technology related experience with emphasis in analytical/business
    intelligence positions.
  • Must have extensive technical background with database architecture, SQL, Power
    BI and other analytical tool sets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS or computer related discipline
  • Ten years of experience in business intelligence, reporting and SQL server
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, Azure and other analytical tools
  • Proven ability to effectively understand and communicate information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical individuals or groups at all levels of the organization

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, Server, MS Office, Teams, Visio, SQL, Power BI, SSRS, ArcGIS, phone, printer, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both in an office and manufacturing environment while sitting or standing at a desk or computer. Physical exertion may be required to lift or move equipment. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust). 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
