Position Title: Utility Construction Manager - 5N
Position Summary
The Utility Construction Manager position works to create acceptable power designs to deliver to the power company, monitors the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for projects of routine to moderate complexity. Assists Utility Relations Supervisor and Utility Relations Specialist in job responsibilities; includes time both in the office as well as out in the field.
Essential Job Functions
• Works directly with Utility Relations Supervisor developing power designs
• Takes field measurements to verify power designs are accurate.
• Recommends changes to power designs to meet field conditions or provide project cost savings.
• Maintains project records which include daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, and pay quantity records.
• Evaluates and monitors progress schedules of power companies.
• Uploads documents and task advancement.
• Schedules and attends 3rd party walks including but not limited to, Make Ready rides with other utilities and post construction rides with other utilities.
• Reviews A&E deliverables (structural, drawings, 1As).
• Advances PMT tasks and completes administrative tasks, as needed.
Education/Certifications
• High School Degree or equivalent required
• Two (2) year technical degree preferred
• A valid driver's license required
Experience/Minimum Requirements
• Two (2) years of related experience.
• Experience working with or for a power company preferred.
Other Skills/Abilities
• Knowledge of electric distribution systems or commercial/residential electric systems
• Knowledge and understanding of the National Electric Code and/or the National Electric Safety Code
• Knowledge of construction management process
• Knowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting process
• Ability to read and understand blueprints • Ability to direct and diagnose work flow problems, critical paths and institute remedies
• Customer service orientation with a strong problem-solving approach - strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively • Time management skills
• Computer support and power experience and troubleshooting
• Attention to detail

Working Conditions: Will be required to travel to project sites with exposure to environmental conditions 70% of the time. Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions 30% of the time.
