Principal Market Development Referral Specialist (Finance)

A Day in the Life
Are you a strategic problem solver passionate about changing patient's lives through innovative technologies and digital experiences?
As a referral marketing consultant, you will be part of a dynamic team, working with U.S. and global colleagues to prioritize current indication expansion, such as Syncope, Atrial Fibrillation, or Stroke, and launch timelines of new indications. Your role will be focused on driving referral strategies to assess indication development and investment decisions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in achieving our goals.

You will work closely with a team of downstream and upstream marketers, strategic therapy expansion leaders, and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to expand the current and future portfolio while keeping access and growth considerations in mind.

In this role, you will craft campaigns, compelling business cases, and opportunity assessments by weaving together competitive intelligence, market trends, clinical outcomes, and financial modeling to inform the referral strategy.

This position requires learning agility, strategic thinking, and flexibility as well as the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with experts in clinical, health economics & reimbursement, and other functions that are critical to influence patient's lives positively.

This role is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and will have a hybrid work schedule. For highly talented individuals, there is the potential to discuss remote work opportunities.

A Day in the Life

As the lead for referral marketing strategies, you will have ample opportunities to grow and expand your professional horizons. Prepare and present regular updates to senior leadership. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Referral Programs: Lead the planning, development, and implementation of current and new indication expansion and referral strategies, including advisory board, education programs, messaging, and medical conferences to drive awareness and referral
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop, build, and strengthen long-term relationships with industry partners and healthcare professionals, including both implanters and referring physicians (including neurology, stroke coordinators, interventional neurology, cardiology, and advanced practice providers)
  • Pathway Development: Identify and support the implementation of patient pathway programs, identify potential barriers, and provide solutions, with continuous evaluation and assessment for improvement
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze program performance metrics, providing regular updates and recommendations for optimization to senior leadership.
  • Marketing Enablement: Lead the creation and execution of referral marketing and digital campaigns in partnership with creative teams & agencies. Own and manage claims matrix to drive consistency and clarity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, regulatory, clinical, and sales and marketing teams to ensure effective communication and execution of expansion initiatives.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 25% of the time

Must-Have - Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, market development strategy, or program development work (5+ years with Advanced Degree)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and seek answers
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity with the ability to develop strategy and gain consensus

Nice to Have
  • Cardiovascular expertise within medical device or pharmaceutical
  • Previous commercial launch experience
  • MBA or other master's degree
  • Experience developing relationships with KOLs and hospital administration

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$127,200.00 - $190,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
