Assistant Director for Academic Enrichment (Finance)



Academic Enrichment, a unit within Undergraduate Studies, promotes a culture of resilience, growth, and personalized support. We assist students in navigating their goals and challenges through holistic, student-centered strategies. We contribute to key university goals and metrics- including retention, progression, and graduation- by offering services and outreach that foster resilience and long-term success, such as guided major exploration, academic advising, academic planning, success coaching, and proactive resource engagement. The Assistant Director is responsible for planning and directing the unit's services, procedures, and practices to meet students' needs and ensure effective operations. The Assistant Director leads the development, implementation, and assessment of programs and outreach. This position manages the day-to-day operations of this department and supervises the work of full-time staff, including training and evaluating their performance.Minimum: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years' experience in advising or related academic functions, including two years of supervisory experience. Or Master's degree in college student affairs, higher education, or related field is required and a minimum two years related experience in advising, career counseling, or related academic functions is required. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position. Strong computer and communication skills.

Preferred: Master's degree and 2-5 years of experience providing academic advising and/or career counseling/coaching to college students generally or college students in major transition. Experience supervising professional staff and/or graduate assistants. Demonstrated willingness and commitment to working with students from a variety of backgrounds. Knowledge and practical application of student development theory, career development concepts, and academic advising competencies. Knowledge of and experience with SUS/USF academic policies and procedures. Experience with student record and advising tools including Banner, Oasis, Degree Works, and Archivum. Strong project management skills. Ability to organize multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work well with others. Ability to solve problems and establish processes in situations with little or no guidelines or precedents.

Grow Here .Provide timely and accurate information to advise students regarding academic program requirements, degree progression, academic policies and procedures, co-curricular activities, career planning, and campus resources. Deliver advising and/or success coaching services through scheduled appointments, drop-ins, group sessions, orientations, and presentations. Communicate effectively with students in both oral and written format, including electronic mediums and presentations.

Plans and leads work of staff members in department. Provides training, direction, instruction, and conducts performance evaluations. May provide recommendations on recruitment and development opportunities. Contributes to the planning and development of programs, projects, or systems impacting the department. Oversees day to day operations of unit.

Perform analytical problem solving and manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for the department's services, program offerings, and courses. Collect and present data that give evidence of the impact and outcomes of programs and services. Utilize innovative thinking, critical thinking, and problems solving to investigate and analyze multiple alternatives to resolve issues or create exceptions. Use delegated authority to formulate, approve, and implement policies within scope of departmental responsibilities. Makes recommendations on budget items.

Communicate with colleagues and campus partners outside of the department on relevant policies, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Use information exchange, influence, and active persuasion to gain cooperation of others to support department objectives. Appropriately market and promote department and its services within and outside of the university.

Participate in higher level administrative responsibilities to ensure the college and university advising missions are realized. Serve on appropriate department, college and/or campus advisory committees, and participates in professional development enhancing core competency in order to provide excellent service and promote student success.
