The Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) is the newest degree-granting college at the University of South Florida and is unique in its mission and its approach. Endowed through a generous gift from Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel, the College was established in 2009. Our mission is achieving sustainable development, both locally and globally, by fostering social, economic and environmental sustainability; we accomplish this through teaching, research, student mentoring and community outreach, as well as by generating practical knowledge and developing innovative technologies, skills and policies.

The College employs an elite core faculty and staff, with its real strength being its ability to serve as the hub for a network of scholars and professional experts interested in working together to generate new knowledge and prepare a new generation of sustainability professionals. These professionals will provide their expertise to assist communities, companies, and governments maximize their productivity, reduce their ecological and carbon footprint, practice social responsibility and enhance resilience.

A Master of Arts degree in Global Sustainability is currently available in nine concentrations, engaging faculty from across the University to work with students in such important foci as food security, water, energy, climate change, entrepreneurship, sustainable business, sustainable tourism, sustainability policy, and transportation. Moreover, eight graduate certificates in similar topical areas allow professionals to enhance their disciplinary careers with a global sustainability emphasis. All students are required to engage in a sustainability capstone or internship project to acquire hands-on experience in the real world. Fostering interdisciplinary research in such areas as renewable fuels, urban metabolism, integrated water systems modeling, and urban infrastructure systems, the College supports innovative ideas and just recently issued its own call for proposals which generated triple the interest expected.

POSITION SUMMARY:

An Academic Services Administrator is responsible for the administration of a specific Academic program, project, service, or function to include academic program planning, implementation and evaluation. This job performs administrative functions directly related to academic instruction. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Patel College of Global Sustainability and works closely with the Academic Program Director in the same college. Academic Administrators are involved in a broad range of administrative duties supporting instruction, including matters such as curriculum development, evaluating quality and methods of instruction, researching and recommending new programs and/or revisions to existing programs, establishing and maintaining academic standards and degree requirements, accreditation matters, course scheduling and space allocation, program marketing and recruitment. An Academic Administrator must maintain extensive knowledge of university, college, and department policies and procedures, and be able to interpret and apply them to support faculty and students. This is an administrative and analytical work which is directly related to the academic mission of the university, requiring the application of discretion and judgment on matters of significance with respect to curriculum, course management and instruction. As such the duties of this position are intended to qualify for exempt status under the administrative duties exemption of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The duties of this position are distinguished from positions providing general business administration support to academic departments, which would not be appropriate for this classification. Manage applications to the Patel College of Global Sustainability academic programs, including maintaining contact with leads and applicants. Ensure applications are reviewed and decisions processed in timely manner once applications are complete.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Master's degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited university with 3+ years advising, data analysis and admissions processing, preferably in university setting. Minimum 3 years of recruiting and lead management, preferably using CRM software.
Master's degree in analytics, management, operations or related business degree.
3+ years' experience in data management and analytics, SEO, SAS/STAT, Office 365, MS Access, Google AdWords and reporting software.
3+ years' experience recruiting, admissions and advising in university setting
3+ years' of Banner/Oasis and CRM software management.

  • Track record of successfully meeting deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple projects, work efficiently and independently to implement strategies to achieve desired goals.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite

  • Administer academic policies and advise faculty, staff, and students on policy matters related to the academic . program.
  • Fulfill department or unit responsibilities for admissions recruitment and program marketing.
  • Supervise (when necessary) administrative and non-administrative staff supporting the academic program to fulfill program support requirements.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to produce reports for internal and external use, including accreditation reviews.
  • Write reports and prepare presentations about the academic program, instructional activity, program planning, etc.
  • Assist with semester course schedule for graduate, and online learning courses. Coordinate space requirements and classroom logistics as needed to ensure seamless delivery of instruction.
  • Assist with the submission and development process for new course offerings, new programs, and program revisions.
  • Serve as a liaison with other academic and administrative departments regarding the academic program, representing the program on cross-functional teams, policy committee, and work groups.
  • Prepare materials and assessments for posting via online web pages.
  • Perform other administrative and analytical duties supporting the academic mission of the department, college, or unit.
  • Knowledgeable of various university student services such as academic support and student crisis services to help ensure student success and safety.
