Senior Network Engineer (Transportation)



Flagger Force, an industry leader in traffic control, is currently hiring a Senior Network Engineer. This position will be based in our corporate campus located in Hummelstown, PA.

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for Flagger Force's network design, implementation & configuration, performance optimization, security & risk management, and troubleshooting & incident response all while acting in accordance with company values, vision and mission.

Primary Responsibilities:
Network Design and Architecture:
Design and implement scalable and resilient network architectures that meet the organization's requirements Develop network segmentation strategies, VLANs, and subnetting schemes to optimize network performance and security Design and deploy routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP to enable efficient data routing across the network Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions to support the organization's network infrastructure
Network Implementation and Configuration:
Configure and deploy network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators Implement security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS) to protect the network from unauthorized access and external threats Ensure proper integration and interoperability of network components, protocols, and technologies Conduct network device configurations, firmware upgrades, and patch management activities
Network Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization using network monitoring tools Analyze network traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network performance Conduct periodic network audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices Implement quality of service (QoS) mechanisms to prioritize network traffic based on business requirements
Network Security and Risk Management:
Implement and enforce network security measures to safeguard against cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate potential security risks Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA) regarding network security Develop and maintain network security policies, procedures, and documentation
Network Troubleshooting and Incident Response:
Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents Conduct root cause analysis of network failures and implement corrective actions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve network-related problems Provide technical support and guidance to junior network engineers and IT staff
Project Management and Leadership:
Lead network infrastructure projects from planning to implementation, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets Collaborate with stakeholders, including IT teams, business units, and vendors, to gather requirements and define project objectives Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers Stay updated with emerging network technologies, industry trends, and best practices
