Advisor Geoscientist, Subsurface Development (Finance)
Job Summary
Murphy Oil Corporation is looking for an Advisor, Geoscientist for the subsurface development department to work operated and non-operated deepwater fields. The candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in constructing field models and experience in well planning and justification. They should have expertise in Petrel together with an understanding of geologic models for lead generation, resource/reserve estimation and well trajectory planning is required.
This role will have the ability to apply quantitative analysis techniques, such as paleogeography, sequence stratigraphy, geo-statistics, and risk analysis to identify and optimize development of infield hydrocarbon potential. They should have experience in building and modifying geological models to accommodate reservoir engineering history matching information is also required. Experience with prospect risking, volumetrics, and exploration (including Near Field EXP) is considered an asset. The position requires a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and shifting priorities.
The position involves defining the scope and requirements of major projects, creating multiple effective and cost-efficient solutions for specialized technical opportunities, and drafting executive summaries or presentations on new issues. The role requires anticipating management's questions and responding effectively and strategically to their concerns. Additionally, this position may serve as a multi-discipline team lead on small to medium-sized projects and develop a working knowledge of other functions to better approach new opportunities.
Interpersonal skills are essential for this position. The role entails effectively representing the team's work to management, cultivating coaching and mentoring abilities to support junior team members, and exemplifying professional and ethical conduct. Additionally, it requires expanding one's influence beyond the immediate team, engaging with other teams within the area, and extending reach across various regions.

The Advisor, Geoscientist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work up to two (2) days a week remotely, as the business needs allow.
