Job Description:

Job Family Definition:

Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates materials, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility, design margin and validation analysis and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Leads and/or assists in architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel and/or partner organizations in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, prototype fabrication, and production tooling.

Provide comprehensive Mechanical Engineering support to the HPE Manufacturing Operations, serving as the primary liaison between the Manufacturing Operations and the Facilities Deparment. This role involves evaluating and managing infrastructure, utility, and improvement projects, offering technical guidance, and ensuring operational continuity through proactive facility assessments.

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads multiple project teams of other mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of mechanical and thermal development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, validation, tooling and testing.
  • Lead and manage infrastructure and utility improvement projects. Act as the primary point of contact between HPE-PR and GRE-PR, providing technical evaluations, solution alternatives, and cost estimates.
  • Provide engineering support to PRMO maintenance teams for key facility systems, including: Wastewater Treatment System, Deionized Water System AND Nitrogen Generation System. Responsibilities include performance analysis, troubleshooting, and upgrade/retrofit evaluations.
  • Support product design optimization through Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) analysis using Allegro software.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs and one comprehensive annual audit of all critical infrastructure. Identify and report issues that could impact business continuity and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers to assess the need for strain gauge testing on new products based on standards. Review supplier test reports, prepare test boards, coordinate testing with Process/Test Engineers, and document results.
  • Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on mechanical and thermal design and development.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall mechanical/thermal leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the mechanical and thermal design organization.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience in facilities engineering, utilities, or infrastructure project management
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial utilities
  • Experience with DFMA tools (preferably Allegro)
  • Project Management Expertise
  • Experience in Capital Budget management

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Using ProEngineer or other 3D CAD software as a mechanical design tool.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-tech environment
  • Familiarity with strain gauge testing and analysis
  • Experience in mechanical and thermal architecture of electronics packaging design.
  • Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.
  • Using CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal solution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.

  • Leads multiple projects requiring mechanical and / or thermal development. Drives design innovation.
