Sr Sourcing Manager (Project Management)
Job Summary
The Senior Sourcing Manager plays a crucial role in managing Medline's global procurement sourcing strategies. The Sr Sourcing Manager will oversee a team of Sourcing Category Managers. The Sr Sourcing Manager is tasked with ensuring the best total cost of ownership, supply redundancy and adequate capacity, and sourcing risk mitigation. Some of the activities for the manager will include negotiating supplier price reductions and analyzing geo-political risks, resolving price and cost disagreements with vendors, coordination with supply chain, quality, and overseas offices, and overseeing vendor relationships. Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategies to negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers and vendor partners. Manage and optimize direct spend categories to drive best-cost solutions, ensure consistent supply, and proactively reduce risks across the organization.
Manage up to $250M spend across key medical and raw materials.
Provide strategic insights on global and geopolitical changes affecting tariffs, raw materials, and regulatory requirements, including tariff rates, new laws, and natural resource availability. Offer comprehensive analysis on the impacts of global events and regulatory shifts. Collaborate with industry peers to identify and implement global solutions, while leveraging the Government Affairs team to advocate for Medline's interests across managed categories.
Manage an entire divisional portfolio of managed categories leveraging sourcing experience to drive continuous improvement across all Category Managers with the goal to contain costs, drive improved raw material consumption, and other-cost down initiatives. Drive advanced negotiations and operational gains across all vendors.
Oversee the analysis of supplier price increase submissions, assessing the full impact on the division by factoring in rebates and other cost elements. Develop and execute negotiation strategies with vendors to achieve cost avoidance or savings, driving financial performance and supporting broader strategic objectives for the division.
Lead the execution of strategic risk assessments identified by Category Managers, creating comprehensive country-specific views on sourcing risks. Analyze variables like multi-country sourcing, dual sourcing strategies, and geopolitical factors to develop robust risk mitigation plans. Provide recommendations for category-level changes based on thorough risk analysis to safeguard the organization's supply chain and optimize sourcing strategies.
Lead a team overseeing a diverse range of product categories, with deep expertise in product requirements, manufacturing, raw materials, and other critical value drivers. Guide the team in understanding cost inputs and driving best-cost strategies for Medline. Work closely with senior leadership to develop and execute sourcing initiatives that reduce costs, improve supply chain efficiency, and align with Medline's long-term goals.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, overseeing negotiations on pricing, managing supplier performance, ensuring on-time delivery, and ensuring strict compliance with contracts. Lead efforts to address any supplier issues and work closely with internal teams to improve performance, aligning supplier relationships with Medline's business objectives.
Lead the analysis of domestic and global supply chains, offering strategic insights into the impacts of tariffs, geopolitical risks, and other external factors. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop proactive strategies that address these challenges and ensure continuity of supply, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives.
Lead the strategic evaluation of sourcing strategies for domestic versus import suppliers, including Make vs. Buy analysis for sourced products. Guide the team in identifying and implementing optimal sourcing solutions that drive cost savings, enhance supply chain efficiency, and align with Medline's long-term goals. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure sourcing strategies are robust and adaptable to changing market conditions.
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, risk-based global sourcing strategy to optimize vendor performance across assigned spend categories. Oversee dual sourcing initiatives, dual country of origin planning, vendor allocation optimization, re-sourcing, and cost containment/reduction efforts. Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive alignment with strategic goals, ensuring continuous improvement in vendor execution and overall sourcing performance.
Lead the strategic identification and execution of cost-savings opportunities within product categories to drive GM growth. Spearhead initiatives for Medline-branded opportunities and negotiate long-term agreements with both domestic and import suppliers, optimizing pricing and supply chain efficiency. Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with broader business objectives
Work collaboratively with Medline Shanghai, Supply Chain, Quality and Product Management teams to maintain and develop vendors and products to reduce supply risk and ensure a healthy supply chain.
Take the lead in assisting the reorder buying or quality department with problem suppliers when all efforts to resolve issues through communication have been exhausted. Collaborate with internal teams to identify root causes, develop corrective action plans, and manage the resolution process to ensure continued supplier performance and product quality. Provide strategic oversight and guide cross-functional teams in mitigating risks and maintaining supplier relationships.
Provide advanced level advice to the organization and address supplier and supply problems.
Lead and develop a team of sourcing professionals, overseeing their growth and success. Provide training, performance management, and ongoing mentorship to ensure team members have the skills and support needed to excel. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages open communication, idea sharing, and teamwork to drive sourcing strategy and meet business objectives.
Manage a team by reviewing functional requirements, product category assignments, workload. Holding team accountable for goals and outcomes to drive Gross Margin and Cost Savings
Requirements:
Education
Bachelor's degree.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of sourcing experience.
At least 2 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Experience leading category strategies, supplier relationship management, sourcing initiatives.
Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices and reconciling differences.
Experienced in documenting procedures and internal controls.
Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
Experience controlling and coordinating concurrent projects, competing priorities and critical deadlines.
Ability to work across multiple time zones and locations.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$132,600.00 - $199,160.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
