Sr. Material Handler I (Manufacturing)

Senior Material Handler I

Irvine, CA (Onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Senior Material Handler I to perform physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, and distribution materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. Examines stocks, distributes materials to inventory and manufacturing lines, and for fulfilment of customer demand. Unpacks and validates goods received against purchase orders and other invoices. Lifts light, moderate and at times, heavy items or materials. Operates a pallet jack or forklift equipment.

In this position, you will also prepare and maintain records of items shipped, received goods, and other transactional documentation when needed; work with logistical carriers and suppliers; post weights, shipping charges, and prepare goods for final shipment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Analyze SAP data in support of Distribution Operations Process shipments, validate inventory movements, and make recommendations to management on optimal processing methods and solutions.
  • Maintain relationships with internal customers; Work with Material Handling, Manufacturing, and SCM to develop daily delivery schedules; Reconciliation of Material Handling transactions; Maintain historical shipment data trafficking of freight movements, ensuring adherence with transit time commitments and POD's.
  • Assist to fulfill material requirements for Distribution Center Activities; Maintain on-time delivery to OEM's and Airlines Creation of export documentation in accordance and compliance with US regulations.
  • Ensuring inventory accuracy and integrity are upheld; Develop continuous process improvement plans and initiatives; Maintain operational plans to support customer shipments and production needs (will involve working Saturdays and some Sundays); Maintain and promote a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Create and sustain a culture to support lean initiatives and promote lean values; Checks material against documentation for proper nomenclature, identification, and quantity; Utilizes small hand tools, scales and operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, skids, and hand trucks; Interfaces with other functional areas such as receiving inspection, production control and assembly departments in order to coordinate shortages or expedite stock problems.
  • Supports shipping department in shipping material with UPS, Fed Ex, DHL and other couriers; Perform cycle count duties using SAP functions; Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4-6 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-year minimum using SAP or other ERP system experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (V-lookup, pivot tables, etc.); Knowledge of cycle count functions; Understands SAP functions to perform shipping duties as needed.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business workflows related to a warehouse distribution center; Able to write reports, business correspondence, and other communications related to the warehouse distribution center. 
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to work independently and maneuver through new or moderately difficult assignment with general instructions.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday, may be required to work outside normal business hours including weekends.
  • Physical Environment: Primary work environment is the manufacturing/production and warehouse area. 
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

What We Offer

The anticipated TTC range for this role is $40,726.00 - $71,314.00 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Total Target Cash (TTC): 40,726.00 - 55,223.00 - 71,314.00 USD Annual

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee's career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company's annual salary budget, the customer's program requirements, and the company's internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.
