Part-time Public Safety Officer (Administrative)



Description:

Responsibilities:
Regularly patrol University grounds, buildings, and surrounding community via foot, bike and vehicleMake regular tours of campus buildings, performing lock and unlock functions, and checking for unauthorized use Voluntarily initiate and/or take assigned written and verbal complaint reports on all incidents of crime, suspicious persons or circumstances, motor vehicle accidents, or circumstances that might pose questionable liability to the UniversityInterview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects relative to investigations and prepare related documentation and reportsConduct regular checks of parking lots, enforce parking regulations and check for signs of criminal activityProvide traffic control as needed and assignedConduct checks of boilers and other physical plant rooms for signs of malfunctionActs as first contact for after-hours Physical Plant Department and custodial problemsRespond to areas on campus in all emergency situations including circumstances involving police, fire, and medical personnelRender emergency assistance to members of the Carroll University community as necessaryAct quickly, instill calm, and determine appropriate actions during emergencies and critical situationsWork closely with members of the Student Affairs Division in communicating and investigating concernsProvide crisis intervention as neededGenerate a full report of activities and incidents in an accurate and timely mannerAdvocate for campus safety and security issues and needsEnforce rules, regulations and University policies, and assist law enforcement in enforcing appropriate statutes, ordinances, and traffic lawsAct as a cooperative liaison with Waukesha Police Department patrol and investigative unitsPerform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications: Availability, Education and/or experience:
High school diploma or GED requiredTraining in safety/security area and/or college credits in a related field preferredThree to four years of security/military/ law enforcement experience preferredThis position may require the availability to work ALL shifts as scheduled 1st, 2nd, 3rd, day, night, weekend, rotating, and swing, as well as holidays and overtime.
Human Relations Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skillsSensitivity to the needs of students
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk continually for two miles, climb four stories of stairs.
Special Requirements:
Must have valid Wisconsin motor vehicle license and be insurable under the Universitys insurance plan.Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance theUniversity mission.
