Position description
Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a board certified applicant with broad experience in external beam radiation therapy for a faculty position in the Division of Medical Physics, Department of Radiation Oncology.
Candidates will have a track record that demonstrates academic and clinical productivity in medical physics, including clinical practice and project management, research achievement and educational excellence. The incumbent must have a broad clinical skill set. The physics faculty all participate in the clinical practice as well as the medical physics residency and radiation oncology residency programs.
Equipment in the Department includes Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Gamma Knife ICON, Mobetron, GE CT simulator with wide bore and 4D capability, a HDR afterloader, Eclipse, ARIA and a full complement of dosimetry and detector systems for photon, proton and brachytherapy. Treatment procedures include all conventional radiation therapy plus specials that include IORT, TBI, TSET, HDR, SRS, SBRT, BH, and LDR eye plaques.
Construction will start in 2021 of a new expansion that will include the first Carbon Therapy system in the North America, a 2-gantry proton facility, MR and CT simulator, and conventional linacs. The particle facility in Florida will collaborate closely with the already existing Mayo Clinic proton facilities in Rochester, MN and Phoenix, AZ.
The Medical Physics Division currently has 6 medical physicists and a medical physics residency program with 2 residents. The Division is a seasoned and cohesive team responsible for all aspects of therapy physics in support of clinical practice, education and research in radiation oncology. The Radiation Oncology Department has 9 faculty radiation oncologists, 4 radiation oncology residents, and 4 dosimetrists.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. and board certificationÍž board eligible Ph.D. graduates from a CAMPEP accredited residency program will also be considered. Capability to attain a Florida State license is required.
