Transport & Customs Specialists (Finance)



What will you do?
  • Prepares shipments for commercial transport; determines best shipping method and ensures safe delivery with packing methods
  • Ensures bills of lading are on trucks; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ensure that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • May trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • Maintains department records, prepare routine reports, and files shipping records accurately.
  • Operate and maintain department certifications to include (not inclusive of all) Dock Safety Inspection, Yard Dogs, Cranes and PIT's.
  • CTPAT Certification: Complete on-line courses and complete annual refresher training.
  • May operate company vehicle to deliver shipments (must be certified/trained to operate company vehicle)
  • May use table saw to cut wood/pallets; foam or packing materials, shrink wrapper machines and banding machines for shipping boxes/crates.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements.
  • Maintains all certifications for group(s) and completes all required Training.
  • Daily 5S is required.
  • Performs other duties as required and often in other groups.

What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
  • Work is performed in a Machining/Painting environment. The job will be performed standing and/or squatting. Requires ability to reach overhead, pull, push, and climb a ladder to perform work.
  • Ability to lift 26 pounds occasionally or 22 pounds repetitively.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous shipping experience is required.
