🚀 The Role

As our Grants Manager, you'll be a vital member of the Development team, responsible for identifying, writing, and managing high-value grants from corporations, foundations, and government agencies. You'll also work side-by-side with our Finance Department, ensuring every grant dollar is managed with precision and every report shines with excellence.

This role isn't just about paperwork — it's about strategy, relationships, and impact. You'll be front and center with community leaders, public officials, and funders, representing HGH with professionalism, confidence, and a persuasive voice that inspires support.

💡 What You'll Do

  • Secure vital funding through compelling grant proposals

  • Manage complex billing and reporting for federal, state, and local government agencies

  • Build and nurture relationships with funders, community leaders, and key stakeholders

  • Present with confidence to large audiences, including elected officials and public bodies

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to advance HGH's mission through well-funded programs

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Write and/or manage grants including, but not limited to:

• Unrestricted funding to grow capacity for the organization.

 • Restricted funding to maintain and grow programs.

 • Track & manage grant reports, deadlines, deliverables, and agreements.

 • Bring together members of other departments and assign roles when necessary.

• Online grant research.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with grantors and donors.

 • Develop capital campaign grants.

• Collect, organize, and maintain all electronic and hard copy documents needed for complete grant files and records management.

 • Collaboratively work with and/or support the finance department with reimbursement grant invoicing and reporting.

• Work with all departments to collect and synthesize data. Oversee grant workflow processes related to data entry to ensure adequate internal controls and that all grant reporting of data is accurate.

 • Provide links between program, finance, and other staff so that all activities related to grant data collection and reporting are smoothly implemented.

• Responsibility for researching, writing, compiling, and managing the timeline of all grants, including maintenance and oversight of workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient collection and timely submission.

• At times, direct external grant writing contractors and oversight of other members of the grant writing team, including staff, interns, or volunteers.

• Provide general support to the development department during peak periods, including special events

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• A successful track record in executing strategy, setting priorities, managing multiple projects, and working effectively under pressure to achieve individual and organizational goals.

• Exceptional project and time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable with public speaking and presentations.

• Ability to supervise college interns seeking credit and/or work experience in grant writing.

• Experience working with program staff/managers in development of and implementation of monitoring procedures used to track grant requirements.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.

• Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others.

• Utilizes sound judgment and maintains strict confidentiality.

• Familiarity with state and federal record-keeping laws.

• Organized & detail oriented.

• Ability to multitask and handle several projects simultaneously.

• Familiar with and committed to AFP Code of Ethics.

• Understands PHI laws and best practices.

 • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office, Donor Perfect, Instrumentl.

 Education

 Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with two years of technical writing and storytelling experience, preferrable in the areas of: writing/developing, researching, and submitting letters of intent, government grant proposals, and corporate grant applications.

Physical requirements/Working conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, carrying, lifting, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.

• The employee may be required to lift office equipment up to 30 lbs.
