Communications & Marketing Officer (Finance)



The SHWC Communications and Marketing Officer oversees and administers communications and outreach to USF students including verbal, print, and digital materials. Marketing services and events via university approved platforms, presentations, and tabling. This position is vital in promoting and raising awareness of SHWC services/programs available to USF students at all locations.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of customer service experience in a related role with supervisory or management duties. Strong verbal and communication skills to facilitate/moderate presentations and write promotional/marketing materials. Demonstrated work experience in a health and wellness related field, preferably in a college/university setting working with multifaceted student population and professional work experience in communications, marketing, or project management desired. Respect for confidentiality is a must, tact and diplomacy essential, and de-escalation skills a necessity.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the SHWC Communications and Marketing unit to increase students' awareness of our services and visibility/presence with campus partners. Duties include coordination and execution of SHWC marketing and outreach efforts for USF Student Health (SH) units on all campuses, representing SH at student orientations, and campus-wide events and ensuring the verbiage/content for the SH web pages are current and up to date.

  • Oversees and plans outreach events. Creates promotional materials and utilizes a variety of marketing methods and platforms to promote services and events and executes marketing campaigns. Responsible for staffing events, coordinating all logistics, and ensuring appropriate supplies are secured. Events include Healthy HerdaPalooza, Week of Wellness, Annual Flu event, GYT week and homecoming parade.

  • Supervise SHWC marketing specialist and recruits, trains and supervises SHWC outreach and marketing student interns and employees.

  • Serves as SHWC liaison to Student Success Communications and Marketing, University Communications and Marketing, St Petersburg and Sarasota Manatee Communication and Marketing departments.

  • Markets Student Insurance Options, including the USF Student Health Insurance Program and State Health Navigators. Works with contracted servicing agent and underwriter on marketing materials and online enrollment site. Markets open enrollment periods.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
