Vice President of People (Project Management)



LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for a Vice President of People to join our Human Resources team! The Vice President of People (VPP) provides leadership and oversight of LifeWorks' people and culture functions, ensuring that HR practices, programs, and systems effectively support the organization's mission and strategic objectives. The VPP leads HR policy and process improvements, oversees talent management, ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, and contributes to strategic planning activities related to people and culture. This role serves as a trusted partner to the CEO, Executive Team, and senior leaders by offering guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational culture. The VPP is responsible for implementing human capital strategies that attract, develop, and retain a talented and engaged workforce while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance environment.

This full time, exempt position earns a competitive rate ranging from $129,991.16-$142,052.19 depending upon experience. Benefits are also included, which consist of 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium-free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical, dental, and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions, and much more!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and implements HR strategies, policies, and practices that effectively communicate and support LifeWorks' mission, values, and operational needs.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and agency activities comply with legal requirements, government regulations, and best practices affecting HR functions, employee relations, and all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
  • Serves as a member of the senior leadership team, participating in organizational planning and leading HR-related initiatives.
  • Responsible for the hiring, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation, and dismissal of direct reports in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Fosters a positive agency culture that aligns with LifeWorks' values and promotes high employee engagement.
  • Leads strategies for employee recruitment, retention, and talent development.
  • Keeps a pulse on the employee experience, anticipating HR-related needs and trends, and recommending organizational changes to support staff well-being and retention.
  • Oversees agency compensation studies and benefit renewal processes; implements compensation and benefits plans that are competitive, equitable, and sustainable.
  • Leads a comprehensive performance management system that drives agency results and promotes employee development.
  • Directs learning and development programs, including a comprehensive onboarding program, compliance training, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Oversees HR systems, technology, and data analytics to support LifeWorks' business needs, including the Human Resources Information System and the Learning Management System.
  • Develops and manages the HR department budget to ensure efficient and effective use of agency resources.
  • Provides guidance to managers and staff on HR policies, procedures, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Supports succession planning and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Develops clear communications to inform and engage employees and leaders.
  • Ensures timely and high-quality HR support and customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures the HR department complies with all requirements outlined by funders, licensing and accrediting bodies, regulators, and the agency. These requirements may pertain to data, paperwork, training, processes, and procedures, among other things.
  • Represents the HR department at leadership meetings and communicates agency and leadership decisions to their team.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in supervision meetings and all other required meetings or trainings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred;
  • Requires 10 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including a minimum of 7 years of management experience;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Senior leadership experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit or mission-driven sector experience preferred.
