Research Coordinator II - Public Health - Austin, TX (Finance)

We are looking for a Full-Time Research Coordinator II to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Austin, TX. This position would support the Public Health Implementation/ Organization Science (PHI/OS) lab within the Implementation Science Institute and UTHealth School of Public Health. In this position, you will Coordinate program evaluation of the M3 Treatment teams for people experiencing homelessness in Austin, TX. You'll also assist with the day-to-day administrative project management of the Public Health Implementation/Organization Science (PHI/OS) lab to include coordinating lab goals, project activities, monitoring timelines, and supporting research compliance. You'll provide scientific direction for PHI/OS research projects of considerable scope and complexity to include conducting surveys and reports in REDCap, data management, data analysis and visualizations, qualitative data collection and coding, and academic writing.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Provides day-to-day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel, facilities, supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness. This will require developing a broad understanding of the purpose, goals, and specific objectives for each of the funded studies for the Public Health Implementation/Organization Science (PHI/OS) lab.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies; works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.
  • Assists with the preparation of budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff, and authorizes expenditures for multiple projects. Attends research-planning meetings to assist in the preparation of budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.
  • Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staff has received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.
  • Creates and maintain surveys and reports.
  • Conduct data management, data analysis, and visualizations, in consultation with the study PI to include but not limited to healthcare utilization data (e.g., hospitalizations and emergency department visits), and survey data.
  • Coordinate qualitative data collection to include participant recruitment via email/telephone, checking transcription accuracy, and conducting qualitative coding.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data may include patient data and departmental programmatic data.
  • Prepares draft reports and communications for the PHI/OS lab to include Institution Review Board communications, literature reviews, conference presentations, and other academic writing.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Provides work administrative direction and guidance to administrative staff personnel within the PHI/OS lab.
  • May review contracts and develop training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred:
  • Experience with REDCap and R Studio.

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
