Job Summary
Department Heads are responsible for all aspects of their department. They oversee staff and work to increase productivity by training, motivating, and building the skills of their team members. They support business efforts and implement company changes. Monitor sales each month and generate new business. They also maintain quality customer service working towards exceeding customer expectations.

Exceed sales and customer satisfaction objectivesMaintain and improve company standardsSupervises and coordinates activities of workers in department of retail storeTrains and mentors workers in store policies, department procedures, and job dutiesOrders merchandise, supplies, and equipmentRecords delivery of merchandise, compares record with merchandise ordered, and reports discrepancies to control costs and maintain correct inventory levelsInspects merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayedRecommends additions to or deletions of merchandise to be sold in departmentPrepares sales and inventory reportsListens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relationsMonitor signage during sales, taking down signs as merchandise sells out and moving displaced sales signs back to their proper placeUsing information technology to record sales figures, for data analysis and forward planningAnalyzing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning
