Patient Account Representative, FT 40hrs a week M-Friday no weekends or holidays (Media)



Summary/Objective:
The Patient Accounts Representative processes and files all third party payer claims and remittance advices for prompt and maximum reimbursement. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
Essential Functions:
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

Reviews and submits electronic and paper claims to Third Party Payers.
Responsible for timely follow-up on accounts utilizing reminders and reports.
Resolves billing errors by investigating and interacting with peers within facility, third party payers, and/or customers.
Processes refunds on credit balances to guarantor or third party payers.
Reconciles account to zero balance and/or refers account to Patient Financial Services Representative.
Researches and responds to patients/guarantor's questions and inquiries.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Responsible for personal development in attendance of educational programs/seminars.
Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.
Greets guests promptly and courteously.
Understands and is responsive to the communication and development needs of patients of all ages.
Assists the Patient Services Representative upon request.
Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of radiation. The environment is a typical office setting.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification III, as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Education/Certifications:
Required Education/Certifications:
Patient Accounts Representative I - High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Patient Accounts Representative II - All the requirements of a Patient Accounts Representative I, plus, minimum of an Associates Degree in Medical Billing or Billing Certification

Preferred Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding
Experience:
Required Experience:
1 - 3 months related experience
Preferred Experience:
1+ years as a Billing Account Specialist in a hospital setting.
