Environmental Technician (Finance)



The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is looking for a part-time, Environmental Technician based in Jacksonville, FL. You must live in the Jacksonville, FL area for this position, there is no remote work or relocation.

Your Role:
The selected candidate will collect particulate samples from project sites located around the city of Jacksonville, FL. The daily routine will involve sample collection, sample collection documentation, and transportation to a designated laboratory. Conduct peer-to-peer on the job training. Complete basic part replacement on air sampling equipment. You will be trained on the standard operating procedure and mechanical maintenance.

The sample collection occurs during an early morning 4-hour shift, from 4:30am - 8:30am for 2 weeks, followed by 1 week off, then repeat.

Additional group meetings and trainings are not during the 4:30am - 8:30am schedule however, they are scheduled with advanced notice.

This position allows the potential to support other projects and/or tasks that may arise in relation to other contracts outside of the listed above work.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 0 to 2 years of experience. In addition, you must have / be:
• Living in the Jacksonville, Florida area is required.
• Strong attention to detail and strong observation skills
• Ability to document notes in an electronic form.
• Ability to perform tasks without a lot of oversight
• Able to teach others and quickly pick up additional skills as needed.
• Ability to perform, or willingness to learn, minor electrical and mechanical repairs is required.
• Highly motivated and customer focused
• Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
• Work well in a team environment.

In addition, the following is required:
• Criminal Background check
• This position requires you to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required. A Florida State driver's license is preferred.

Degree / Certifications
• High school graduate or G.E.D. required.
• B.A/B.S. in Environmental Science or related degree desirable.

Work Environment
This position requires an early morning shift to collect air samples from 4:30am - 8:30am for 2 weeks, followed by 1 week off, then repeat. It requires daily driving and walking around the city of Jacksonville. In addition, you must be able to:
• Work outside all weather and temperature extremes, both hot and cold.
• Work on weekends and holidays.
• Assist lifting air sampling equipment may be required (approx.105 lbs.).
• This position requires that you drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

The hourly rate for this position is $28.00 per hour.
