Advisor, Payroll (Finance)

Job Summary

The Payroll Advisor will provide support to the Payroll Manager in overseeing the payroll department. They will assist in making sure that the payroll is run properly for all branches of the corporation, including but not limited to Onshore and Offshore Operations and International entities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring US semimonthly and biweekly payrolls, and Canada payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monitor daily employee changes and verify replication to ensure that changes are uploaded to the payroll system correctly and resolve any issues on a timely basis
  • Review and reconcile all quarterly and annual payroll reporting and tax filings for accuracy
  • Participate in yearend duties including scheduling and processing adjustment payrolls and reconciling W2 forms to ensure accuracy of all compensation
  • Serve as point of contact for various internal and external payroll audits
  • Collaborate with other departments, including HR, Finance, and IT to ensure smooth operations
  • Partner with third party vendor for responses to tax notices, wage orders, and governmental correspondences
  • Provide day-to-day payroll support including answering general employee payroll/time related questions and addressing pay and timecard issues on a timely basis
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required or assigned
  • Analyze payroll data to identify issues and resolve discrepancies
  • Test new configurations and upgrades
  • Prepare/review documentation for payroll processes

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in processing payroll with 3 years' experience in an advisor, supervisor or manager role.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Detail-oriented with strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources
  • Prior experience with SAP HCM payroll system preferred
  • Experience in international payroll
