Manager IT Infrastructure (Finance)



Job Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's server infrastructure. This role ensures that all server systems operate efficiently, securely, and align with business objectives. The manager leads a team of IT professionals, manages vendor relationships, and drives strategic initiatives to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Server Architecture & Strategy
• Design and implement long-term scalable server infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business and emerging technologies to support business growth
• Evaluate and pilot new emerging server technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements (e.g., edge computing, containerization) to enhance service delivery
• Drive digital transformation initiatives that modernize legacy systems
• Align server strategies with organizational goals and compliance requirements
• Ensure Infrastructure scalability to handle high-volume data traffic and real-time service delivery

Operations & Performance Management
• Monitor server health, uptime, and performance using advanced tools
• Optimize resource utilization across physical and virtual environments
• Troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate root cause analysis
• Collaborate closely with network engineering (IT & SP) teams to align server performance with core and edge network requirements
• Optimize server configurations for latency-sensitive services such as mobile data, IPTV, and voice communications
• Implement resource pooling and load balancing to maximize server efficiency
• Monitor and optimize energy consumption and cooling in data centers
• Introducing infrastructure as code practice for consistent server provisioning
• Automate routine tasks like patching, monitoring, and backups using tools like Ansible or PowerShell

Security & Compliance
• Enforce security protocols including access controls, encryption, and patching
• Collaborate with IT Security teams to mitigate risks and respond to threats
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, GDPR)
• Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure the infrastructure adheres to standards and audits.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
• Develop high-availability architectures and geo-redundant server setups to support 24/7 corporate and telecom operations.
• Test disaster recovery plans annually for critical systems
• Maintain backups and backup systems and ensure data integrity across environments
• Lead recovery efforts during outages or incidents
• Establish governance frameworks for infrastructure change management
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for critical systems

Team Leadership & Development
• Manage and mentor server engineers and administrators
• Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and support career development
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Lead cross-functional teams including server admins, telecom engineers and cloud specialists

Vendor & Budget Management
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with hardware/software vendors
• Oversee procurement and licensing of server-related technologies
• Track and optimize infrastructure spending within budget constraints

Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain detailed documentation of server configurations, policies, and procedures
• Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and capacity planning
• Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
• Implement advanced monitoring tools and track server performance across all services
• Analyze usage patterns to forecast capacity needs and support network expansion

Other Functions:
Capacity & Resource Optimization - demonstrate ability to supervise effectively.
•Forecast infrastructure needs based on subscriber growth and service expansion

Metrics & Performance Reporting and Risk Awareness
• Define KPIs for server uptime, latency and throughput
• Generate executive dashboards to communicate infrastructure health and trends
• Use analytics to identify bottlenecks and guide infrastructure investments

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Planning
• Work with DevOps, network, and application teams to ensure seamless integration
• Support product launches by provisioning and scaling backend infrastructure
• Stakeholder Engagement, i.e. Liaise with finance and procurement to align infrastructure spending with ROI

• Ability to interpret business processes and growth patterns and how to apply those needs to technical system requirements.

• Technical Translation - proficiency in system configuration planning.

Qualification Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Preferred: Master's degree or MBA with a tech focus for strategic leadership roles

Certifications:
• ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
• CompTIA Network+
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
• Cisco certifications like CCNA or CCDP
• Security+ or CISSP for security-focused environments

Experience:
• 7+ years in IT infrastructure roles (e.g., systems/network administrator, server engineer)
• 3-5 years in leadership or management positions

Proven track record in:
• Server and network administration
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
• Vendor management and procurement1

Job Skills:
Technical Proficiency:
• Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VMware, Azure
• Network architecture, firewalls, load balancing, web services
• Patch management and remote update strategies

Project Management:
• Experience with tool like Microsoft Project or Jira
• Familiarity with Agile or ITIL frameworks

Security & Compliance:
• Knowledge of intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, and spam control
