POSITION OVERVIEW

Tilcon Connecticut, a leader in supplying high-quality aggregates and construction materials, is seeking a motivated Commercial Sales Representative - Aggregates to manage and grow our territories across the state. This role is pivotal in driving the sales and marketing of our aggregate products, building strong relationships with a diverse customer base, and delivering world-class customer service. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide tailored solutions for construction projects across Connecticut.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sales & Marketing

  • Promote and sell Tilcon Connecticut's full range of aggregate products to residential, commercial, municipal, and agency customers throughout Connecticut.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate aggregate solutions for their projects.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective customers, including contractors, sub-contractors, and trucking partners.
  • Conduct timely follow-ups on sales leads, quotes, and customer inquiries.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Represent Tilcon CT at industry events and trade shows as needed.

Estimating & Project Support
  • Review construction plans and specifications to derive accurate material quantities and product requirements.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of aggregate applications in paving, grading, and site development.
  • Prepare and present estimates, bids, and proposals to customers in a professional and timely manner.

Administrative & Operational Support
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, including estimates, quotes, contracts, job worksheets, and sales reports.
  • Update and maintain sales forecasts, backlogs, and customer information in Salesforce and other systems.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Department to address delinquent accounts and ensure timely collections.
  • Regularly visit production sites to stay informed about inventory levels, operational challenges, and product availability.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage slow-moving inventories and minimize waste.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience, preferably in construction materials or aggregates.
  • Familiarity with the construction industry and aggregate products is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and sales principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word); experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Strong math competency, including the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and bid materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and adapt to changing situations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to travel within the sales territory and visit customer and production sites as needed.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA and state regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, safety vest, ear plugs, reinforced toed shoes) in designated areas.
