Sports Coordinator - Association Wide (Finance)
The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for a compassionate and patient Sports Coordinator to join our Sports program and help us to provide a safe and nurturing environment. The responsibilities of the Sports Coordinator include performing pre/post game duties to ensure facilities are ready and safe for league play. Applicants should be familiar with the rules and bylaws of the respective sport. Sports Coordinators provide oversight of league games to maintain fair play and promote good sportsmanship. Candidates must have the ability to quickly evaluate information and make decisions and judgment calls. Applicants must be able to resolve conflicts and stay calm while handling disputes.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports Coordinator provides direct supervision and leadership to all facets of the Sports program. The Sports Coordinator must maintain order and assure that the programs are run properly in accordance with the purpose and policies of the YMCA.

SPORTS COORDINATOR REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 18 years of age.Must possess knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports and a willingness to learn other sport fundamentals as necessary.Knowledge and ability to officiate gamesMust demonstrate courtesy and service to program participants and maintain a professional appearance.Must be able to work evenings and weekendsCurrent CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification.
SPORTS COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise youth and adult programs, paid staff and volunteer coaches, and establish, review, and appraise performance for those persons.Assist with recruiting volunteers and participants for sports leagues, camps and clinics.Assist with marketing the programs in order to increase awareness and participation.Help to maintain relations with the community and its representatives, interpreting the YMCA and its work. This includes vendors, schools and other location agencies.Schedule and maintain the facilities and equipment needed to run high quality programs.Promotes membership enrollment and retention.Set up facilities for games, practices, special events, etc., officiate and supervise gyms. Oversee Saturday game days.Provide leadership to coaches, referees, and spectators.Primary responderAttend all special YMCA related, citywide events, as well as special local programs, special classes, meetings and trainings as directed.
