Senior Public Information Specialist (Hybrid) (Creative Design)

How will you contribute to the team?
You will manage public outreach teams on conventional and unconventional infrastructure projects, and coordinate, plan, organize, and direct public outreach efforts and programs for Texas DOT and other infrastructure clients. You will provide expertise in public involvement for all phases of the NEPA process, and through construction.
Manage the public involvement efforts of major projects in the planning phase, ensuring compliance with NEPA.
Work on multi-disciplined teams to deliver the scope of work for clients.
Coordinate staff and manage subconsultants to ensure project office operates according to the contract with client.
Identify public outreach project goals and make recommendations to the client of the best means to address the needs.
Provide expertise in verbal and written communication; be knowledgeable of communication tools and tactics for crafting and disseminating compelling messages.
Support graphic design and social media efforts.
Analyze project area demographics to determine best outreach approaches.
Manage direct relationship with the client regarding public outreach.
Produce and coordinate project publications, brochures, newsletters, web information and materials, and social media.
Meet with the client and project team to determine key messages and themes.
Manage, coordinate and oversee planning for stakeholder and public meetings, public hearings, MAPOs and other small group meetings.
Coordinate and participate in government briefings and project presentations to external groups.
Monitor all public outreach expenses for the project.
Organize/manage project information files and coordinate the interchange of project outreach information with the client and among project team members.
Develop and implement individual project strategies, and/or, public involvement and communications plans in coordination with the client and project team.
Produce and distribute daily, weekly and monthly reports on public outreach efforts.
Supervise the work of support staff and less experienced professionals, as assigned.
Perform such other duties determined necessary by the supervisor.
What will you contribute?
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Environmental Studies, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Five or more years of professional related experience involving NEPA-compliant public outreach and other related areas. Knowledge of public relations and public involvement techniques and strategies; knowledge of media relations strategies.
Ability to write and oversee the design of promotional and informational materials
Ability to establish effective working relationships with, employees, managers, citizens, and appointed and elected officials
Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to make persuasive public presentations
Ability to listen and respond to citizens and other stakeholders on a variety of issues.
Computer proficiency is required.
Knowledge of graphics, publishing, GIS, web, social media software/techniques, and AP style helpful.
