Audiology Assistant (Finance)



The Audiology Assistant works under the direction of licensed audiologists to support patient flow and provide administrative assistance. Strong organization, clear communication, and attention to detail are key to success in this role. This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and delivering excellent patient care.This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with six years experience in office or administrative support. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training (i.e. medical assistant or equivalent clinical training) may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

  • Assists in patient screening procedures; checks in patients; obtains patient histories; prepares charts.
  • Takes vital signs, weights, and measurements.
  • Provides assistance to physician or nurse practitioner with exam and minor surgeries, including colposcopy, biopsy, cryosurgery, and IUD insertion.
  • Calls in medications to pharmacy and administers medication as ordered by physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Receives related telephone calls and triages appropriately, including managing patient messages per protocol or provider instructions.
  • Obtains specimens and records in log; reviews and documents laboratory results; refers abnormal laboratory results to provider; schedules follow up visits.
  • Ensures office is stocked with supplies and equipment; arranges instruments for autoclave. May autoclave subdermals and clean electrodes; troubleshoots equipment.
  • Assists in performing initial assessments of urgent care patients utilizing SOAP format (subjective, objective, assessment, planning), and documents in records.
  • May perform specialized testing, such as nerve conduction velocity testing on patients as ordered by Neurologist. Teaches Neurology residents how to perform nerve conduction velocity testing.
  • May provide screening and basic education on specific topics, such as contraceptive methods/choices and sexually transmitted infections; counsels in self-care prevention, treatment and follow up care as directed by higher level nursing personnel.
  • Schedules hospital surgical procedures; obtains pre-certification authorization for admission.
  • Performs other clerical and administrative duties in support of the clinic and office.
