Kitchen Manager (Food Services)
Our newest store located in Sayville is seeking a FT Kitchen Manager for its anticipated busy operations! Our Kitchen Managers supervise kitchen duties by managing the pantry, inventory, controlling how food is stored and prepared and supervising how the customers are serviced. A Successful Kitchen Manager in our gourmet grocery's kitchen supervises and guides staff to deliver quality, hand crafted food and ensure that all customers are satisfied.
Responsibilities
Ensuring that all food items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the restaurants recipe, preparation and portion standardsEvaluating and disciplining kitchen personnel accordingly and making employment and termination decisionsOrdering kitchen materials and ingredients based on the menu and market demandSupervising food preparation in the kitchen and ensuring that customers are satisfiedMaintaining clean working environments and making sure that employees follow the restaurants preventive maintenance measuresMaintaining adequate inventory levels and conducting weekly inventoriesWorking with various department managers to create menu items, pricing and establishing portion sizes of each mealScheduling shifts by business hours, days, and occasionsOverseeing the training of employees to ensure the safe operation of kitchen equipment and utensils and the proper handling of heavy items and hazardous materials.Other duties and functions as assigned
Food Safety
Oversee the quality food, oversee inventory, supply, and QA processes in the restaurant.Ensure that food safety and security standards are met and adhered to consistently by team membersStore food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g., in refrigerators, storage room, etc.)Manage and maintain food safety standards at all times
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalent3-5 years of experience managing a kitchen in a fast paced kitchen Ability to work a varying schedule including nights/weekends/holidaysMust be self motivated with the ability to motivate and lead a teamMust be able to speak, read and understand the English languageExcellent verbal, written, and communication skillsFood Safety Certification

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
